“Cherry” as defined by Erik Tonkin

Cherry is the couple’s color, the shared slice on Valentine’s Day. Good it goes with Vanilla white, new yet classic all the same. It is the promise of spring and her blossoms lighter just a shade.

Around here when winter wanes, the cherry pie is the hyped hope of our romantic riders, bursting to pop the fruit of a maiden season.

Of desire that flushes the face with blushed cheeks, Cherry’s flavor is too fresh, its taste of the flesh, a sweet kind of tart and its reputation one, too.

Cherry is that extra bit of special just past the point of perfect. Up the (whipped) cream will rise, but the cherry is still on top.

No, it isn’t the Chris King headset: what’s Cherry is the choice of color!

About Erik Tonkin and his Valentine's Day Sweetheart
Erik Tonkin and Rhonda Mazza ride bikes — to work, to train, and for fun. Bikes and the people they have met while riding and racing have led to a network of friends that branches out from Portland, throughout the country, and across the pond. Bikes are a way of life, the substrate that allows them to race at elite levels while, for better or worse, remaining amateurs. After all, what professional bike racer would take the Friday redeye flight across the county, arriving in time to build up bikes and race Saturday afternoon, race again Sunday, and then head directly from the race course to the airport to fly home in time for work on Monday?
